The Commission would like first to mention that, although these diseases are, as such, not specifically earmarked as major diseases in the current 6th Research framework programme, a number of projects, related to chronic inflammation, rheumatic disease models, and to the development of adequate therapies, are already being funded in this field under the current Framework Programme.
