16. verzoekt de Commissie om zelf alles in het geweer te brengen om de lidstaten steun te verlenen bij de aanpak van de factoren die ten grondslag liggen aan radicalisering en extremisme en bij het uitstippelen van preventiestrategieën die onderwijs, maatschappelijke integratie, anti-discriminatiemaatregelen en een interculturele en interreligieuze dialoog moeten omvatten; beveelt een intensievere samenwerking aan met organisaties voor de dialoog tussen culturen; benadrukt het belang van samenwerking met gematigde leiders van de moslimgemeenschap, waaronder vertegenwoordigers van het maatschappelijk middenveld, zowel in de EU als in derde landen, ter bestrijding van radicalisering; roept de internationale gemeenschap van religieuze leiders op om een nieuwe interreligieuze top te organiseren naar het voorbeeld van de top in Assisi in 2011; is van mening dat de EU en de lidstaten het toezicht op de activiteiten van EU-burgers in de landen in kwestie moeten verbeteren; verzoekt de VV/HV en de Commissie te blijven zorgen voor voldoende middelen en een coherent gebruik van de instrumenten om de terrorismedreiging aan te pakken en om effectiever over te schakelen van vroegtijdige waarschuwing op vroegtijdig optreden;

Calls on the Commission to provide technical and financial support for innovative activities and education programmes that aim to stimulate debate and understanding of the equal value of girls and boys, using all available media and social networks, targeting and involving young people, religious and spiritual leaders, teachers, community leaders and other influential personalities, in an effort to modify the cultural perceptions of gender equality of a given society and to underscore the need for non-discriminatory behaviour;
