Trade secrets (also called “confidential business information" or “undisclosed information”) are used by companies of all sizes in all economic sectors to protect a wide range of different information, such as the manufacturing process of Michelin tyres, the recipe for “Pasteis de Belém" (a Portuguese custard tart), the technology and know-how used in Airbus aircraft and Google's search algorithm.
Bedrijfsgeheimen (ook wel "vertrouwelijke bedrijfsinformatie" of "niet openbaar gemaakte informatie" genoemd) wordt door ondernemingen, ongeacht hun omvang of de economische sector waartoe zij behoren, gebruikt om een breed scala aan informatie te beschermen. Daarbij valt bijvoorbeeld te denken aan het procedé voor de productie van Michelin-banden, het recept voor "Pasteis de Belém" (een Portugese custardpudding), de technologie en know-how die in Airbus-vliegtuigen wordt toegepast en het zoekalgoritme van Google.
