Petre Popeangă, on behalf of the ITS Group. – (RO) The importance of reviewing the contribution that the fiscal and customs policies could bring to the development of the Lisbon Strategy cannot be questioned.
Petre Popeangă, namens de ITS-Fractie.–(RO) Het lijdt geen twijfel dat het belangrijk is om de bijdrage die het belasting- en douanebeleid kan leveren aan de ontwikkeling van de strategie van Lissabon eens grondig onder de loep te nemen.

In this context, the strategic policy defined by the Customs Policy Group has aimed at ensuring that national customs administrations operate as efficiently and effectively and react to any requirement arising from a changing customs environment as would one single administration.
In dit verband was het door de Groep douanebeleid vastgestelde strategische beleid erop gericht dat de nationale douanediensten even efficiënt en effectief functioneren en op de eisen van een veranderende douaneomgeving reageren als betrof het één enkele dienst.

2. The common approach regarding customs policy shall continuously be adapted to new developments in partnership between the Commission and the Member States in the Customs Policy Group, comprising the Commission and the heads of customs administrations of the Member States or their representatives.

De gemeenschappelijke aanpak van het douanebeleid dient voortdurend aan de nieuwe ontwikkelingen te worden aangepast in partnerschap tussen de Commissie en de lidstaten in de Groep douanebeleid bestaande uit de Commissie en de hoofden van de douanediensten van de lidstaten of hun vertegenwoordigers.

It is therefore important that the Programme is consistent and supportive of the overall customs policy and that the Customs Policy Group, comprising the Commission and the heads of customs administrations of the Member States or their representatives, is supported under the Programme.

The Customs Policy Group defines strategic and policy guidelines; Member States are represented in the Group by their Directors-General of customs.

Customs guidelines could then be discussed in the light of the policies adopted at Community level by the Customs Policy Group and in synergy with the work of other groups.
