In 2006, a joint European Parliament and Council recommendation called for the introduction of internal QA systems in line with standards and guidelines adopted in Bergen in the context of the Bologna Process, as well as for the creation of the European Register of Quality Assurance Agencies (EQAR).The recommendation called on Member States to enable their HE institutions to select a quality assurance or accreditation agency from the EQAR list that meets their needs and profile, provided that this is compatible with their national legislation or permitted by their national authorities.
In 2006 werd middels een gezamenlijke aanbeveling van het Europees Parlement en de Raad opgeroepen tot de invoering van interne systemen voor kwaliteitsborging in overeenstemming met normen en richtlijnen die aangenomen waren in Bergen in het kader van het proces van Bologna, alsmede voor de vorming van het Europese register van nationale organisaties van kwaliteitsborging (EQAR). (22) For this purpose, it is recommended that extended use be made of the single framework for the transparency of qualifications and competences (Europass) under Decision No 2241/2004/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 December 2004, the European Quality Assurance Register (EQAR) and the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) under Recommendation 2006/143/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 February 2006, the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) under the Recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2008, the European Credit System for Vocational Education and Training (ECVET) and the European Quality Assurance Reference Framework for Vocational Education and Training (EQAVET) under the Recommendation of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 June 2009 and the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS).
