These factors have obscured the extraordinary value of t
he existence of the Constitution, the progress made in external policy since the crisis in Iraq, the leading role given to Parliament and consequently to the citizens, and the shortcomings of our policy for social and territorial cohesion, the failure to recognise national political diversity in Europe as well as in the Member States, which I wish to highlight
as a Member of the European Parliament for Galicia and
as Chairman of the Intergroup ...[+++] on Stateless Nations.
De buitengewone waarde die aan het bestaan van een grondwet moet worden gehecht, de vooruitgang in het buitenlands beleid sinds de ernstige Irak-crisis, de hoofdrol van het Parlement en derhalve ook van de burgers, en de tekortkomingen in het cohesiebeleid op sociaal en territoriaal vlak zijn erdoor in de schaduw gesteld en ook de erkenning van de nationale politieke verscheidenheid in zowel Europa als de lidstaten verkeert erdoor in een impasse. Als afgevaardigde voor Galicië en voorzitter van de Interfractionele Groep Volkeren zonder Staat wilde ik dit benadrukken.
