Neuropathological evaluation should include an examination for indications of developmental damage to the nervous system (6)(85)(86)(87)(88)(89), in addition to the cellular alterations (e.g. neuronal vacuolation, degeneration, necrosis) and tissue changes (e.g. gliosis, leukocytic infiltration, cystic formation).
