The aim of the Commission proposal is to introduce harmonised technical requirements for motor vehicles with the aim of guaranteeing the proper functioning of the internal market and, at the same time, helping to reduce pollutant emissions into the atmosphere. The proposal consolidates and simplifies the existing legal provisions governing type approval for motor vehicles, with the result that nine existing provisions in this area can now be repealed.
De Commissie streeft met haar voorstel de vaststelling van geharmoniseerde technische voorschriften voor voertuigen na met het oog op de goede werking van de interne markt en om een bijdrage te leveren tot een vermindering van de uitstoot van schadelijke stoffen in de atmosfeer. Met het voorstel worden de bestaande wettelijke voorschriften over typegoedkeuring van motorvoertuigen samengevat en vereenvoudigd.
