Some innovative actions under Article 10 of the ERDF Regulation for the period 1994-99, including Regional Innovation Strategies (RIS) and the Regional Information Society Initiative (RISI), have been successful examples (see Annex C), which have illustrated the significant role played by the regions in promoting innovation.
