1. For the purposes of applying the price increases and reductions provided for in Article 5(3) of Regulation (EC) No 318/2006, the minimum price for quota beet referred to in Article 5(1) of that Regulation shall, for each 0,1 % of sucrose content, be:

The measures introduced by that Regulation include in particular the replacement of the intervention mechanism by a reference price as from the 2010/2011 marketing year, and a reduction in the institutional support price for Community sugar and in the minimum price for sugar beet .

2. Contracts shall indicate the purchase prices for the quantities of beet referred to in the first part of Article 19(1) of this Regulation. In the case of the quantities referred to at (a) and (b) of Article 19(1), those prices may not be lower than the minimum price for beet referred to in Article 4 of this Regulation applicable in the production area concerned.

A year and a half has passed since delivery of the 1998 crop of tomatoes for processing (which was covered by Regulation 866/90 and granted Drs 382.5 million in subsidies) and the KILVA, AEVE and TSAR companies have failed to pay the minimum price provided by the Regulation to the entitled producers. Consequently, they owe approximately Drs 400 million to tomato-producers in the prefectures of Kilkis, Pella and Thessaloniki.
