– having regard to its resolutions of 20 January 2000 on the annual report to the Council and to the European Parliament on the results of the multiannual guidance programmes for the fishing fleets at the end of 1997 and of 5 July 2001 on the results of the multiannual guidance programmes for the fishing fleets at the end of 1999,
– onder verwijzing naar zijn resoluties van 20 januari 2000 over het jaarlijks verslag van de Commissie aan de Raad en het Europees Parlement over de resultaten van de meerjarige oriëntatieprogramma's voor de vissersvloten aan het einde van 1997, en van 5 juli 2001 over de resultaten van de meerjarige oriëntatieprogramma's voor de vissersvloten per einde 1999,

- with respect to structural policy in the fisheries sector, in some cases the specific characteristics of regional fleets have been taken into account in the process of drawing up multiannual guidance programmes.
- in het kader van het structuurbeleid voor de sector is in bepaalde gevallen bij de uitwerking van het meerjarige oriëntatieprogramma rekening gehouden met de specifieke kenmerken van de regionale vloten.

It specifies the procedure for adopting the multiannual guidance programmes for the fishing fleets (MAGPs) for the period starting on 1 January 2002.
Daarnaast wordt er, voor de periode vanaf 1 januari 2002, nader ingegaan op de goedkeuringsprocedure en de follow-up van de meerjarige oriëntatieprogramma's (MOP).

4. For the remainder of the programming period not yet covered by a multiannual guidance programme approved by the Commission, the programming information shall be purely indicative; such information shall be specified when the new multiannual guidance programme is approved, in accordance with its objectives.
4. Voor de rest van de programmeringsperiode, die nog niet door een door de Commissie goedgekeurd meerjarig oriëntatieprogramma wordt bestreken, zijn de programmeringsgegevens louter indicatief; deze gegevens worden bij de goedkeuring van het nieuwe meerjarige oriëntatieprogramma door de lidstaten gepreciseerd op basis van de doelstellingen van dat programma.

3. On its own initiative or at the request of the Member State concerned, or under provisions laid down in the multiannual guidance programmes, the Commission may re-examine and adapt any multiannual guidance programme, whilst respecting the Council Decision mentioned in Article 4(1).
3. De Commissie kan op eigen initiatief of op verzoek van de betrokken lidstaat, dan wel op grond van in de meerjarige oriëntatieprogramma's opgenomen bepalingen, elk meerjarig oriëntatieprogramma opnieuw onderzoeken en aanpassen, met inachtneming van het in artikel 4, lid 1, bedoelde besluit van de Raad.

1. For the purpose of monitoring the implementation of multiannual guidance programmes, Member States shall transmit to the Commission, before 1 May each year, a document reviewing the progress made with their multiannual guidance programme.

By letter of 11 July 1997 the Commission forwarded to Parliament the annual report to the Council and to the European Parliament on the results of the multiannual guidance programmes for the fishing fleets at the end of 1996.
