While several electronic signature initiatives based on the concept of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) are starting to be used for specialised purposes where a high level of security is required (e-government, notarisation of documents etc), in the field of e-commerce and m-commerce no PKI-based application is successfully deployed on a large scale in the business-to-customer environment.
