In accordance with Article 15(1)(b) of Regulation (EU) No 1380/2013 the landing obligation applies in consequence to cod from 1 January 2015 and to plaice from 1 January 2017.
Overeenkomstig artikel 15, lid 1, onder b), van Verordening (EU) nr. 1380/2013 is de aanlandingsverplichting bijgevolg vanaf 1 januari 2015 van toepassing op kabeljauw en vanaf 1 januari 2017 op schol.

This Regulation specifies the details for implementing the landing obligation, as regards cod and plaice caught in the fisheries for herring, sprat and cod in the Baltic Sea.
In deze verordening worden nadere bepalingen vastgesteld voor de uitvoering van de aanlandingsverplichting voor kabeljauw en schol die worden gevangen in de visserijen op haring, sprot en kabeljauw in de Oostzee.

The joint recommendation proposes that the exemption from the landing obligation for cod and plaice caught with trap-nets, creels/pots, fyke-nets and pound nets, as well as, the minimum conservation reference size for cod, provided for by Regulation (EU) No 1396/2014, continue to apply after 31 December 2017.
Volgens de gezamenlijke aanbeveling moet de in Verordening (EU) nr. 1396/2014 bedoelde vrijstelling van de aanlandingsverplichting voor met vallen, korven/potten, fuiken en kommen gevangen kabeljauw en schol, evenals de in die verordening vastgestelde minimuminstandhoudingsreferentiegrootte voor kabeljauw na 31 december 2017 van toepassing blijven.

To secure sustainable fishing in Europe, low-impact methods and gear need to be developed and introduced, with a view, inter alia, to reducing discards and thus reducing the fishing mortality rate for fish such as plaice. Funding may be obtained from the European Fisheries Fund, since the objectives of the Fund are in line with the aims of such research.
Om in Europa een duurzame visserij te kunnen bedrijven moeten dergelijke methoden en gereedschappen worden ontwikkeld en ingevoerd, zodat bij voorbeeld het overboord zetten van vis niet meer nodig is en zo de vissterfte onder bij voorbeeld schol kan worden beperkt. De middelen voor de financiering kunnen worden verstrekt door het Europese Visserijfonds, aangezien dit fonds dezelfde doelen nastreeft die in het visserijonderzoek worden gepropageerd.

In the event that the STECF advises that either or both the spawning stock size of plaice or that of sole is suffering reduced reproductive capacity, the Council may decide by qualified majority on the basis of a proposal from the Commission on a TAC for plaice that is lower than that provided for in Article 4, on a TAC for sole that is lower than that provided for in Article 5, and on a number of days at sea that is lower than that provided for in Article 6.
Indien de omvang van het paaibestand van schol of tong volgens het WTECV leidt tot een verminderd reproductievermogen, kan de Raad, op voorstel van de Commissie, bij gekwalificeerde meerderheid overgaan tot de vaststelling van een TAC voor schol die lager ligt dan het in artikel 4 bedoelde niveau, een TAC voor tong die lager is dan het in artikel 5 bedoelde niveau en een aantal dagen op zee dat lager is dan het in artikel 6 bedoelde aantal.

17. Calls on the Commission to conduct its review of the Plaice Box in the light of future flatfish management, including the plaice recovery plan;
