The Steering Group should be composed of managing authorities and/or national rural networks, EU-wide organisations active in the field of rural development, national authorities in charge of the evaluation of rural development programmes, agricultural advisory service providers and/or agricultural research institutes.

Actions to enhance the co-ordination of national research programmes will be pursued wherever appropriate, in close co-ordination with ERA-Net projects, Technology Platforms and other relevant actors, such as the Standing Committee on Agricultural Research (SCAR) or any future European maritime research co-ordination structure.
Waar van toepassing zal in nauwe samenwerking met ERA-NET-projecten, technologieplatforms en andere betrokkenen, zoals het PCOL (Permanent Comité voor onderzoek in de landbouw) of een toekomstige Europese structuur voor de coördinatie van het onderzoek van de zee, worden gewerkt aan de bevordering van de coördinatie van nationale onderzoeksprogramma’s.

This omission is having the following results: (a) agricultural research priorities under the programme are being watered down; (b) efforts to ensure that the ERA takes account of the challenges posed by the European model of agriculture are being hampered; and, lastly, (c) it is impossible for agricultural research to support the objectives targeted by the ongoing CAP reform.
