The Agency offers a network of stand-by oil spill response vessels to "top up" Member States’ response capacity when affected by a spill. It provides a satellite based oil spill detection and monitoring service called CleanSeaNet and information on chemical spills through the MAR-ICE network.

The contracting of the first stand-by oil recovery vessels – a total of seven – was carried out in 2005 via a restricted tender procedure.

Whereas Article 5 of Council Regulation 136/66/EEC of 22 September 1966 on the establishment of a common organization of the market in oils and fats (3), as last amended by Regulation (EC) No 3179/93 (4), provides for an aid scheme for the production of olive oil; whereas the scheme provides for the grant of aid to oil producers whose average production is at least 500 kg of olive oil, subject in particular to the submission of proof that the oil has been processed at an approved mill; whereas the economic aim of the said aid is achieved once the olives have been processed into oil; whereas in this case, and given the very large number of oil producers involved, the application of Article 10 (2) of Regulation (EEC) No 1068/93 should be clearly specified;
Overwegende dat bij artikel 5 van Verordening nr. 136/66/EEG van de Raad van 22 september 1966 houdende de totstandbrenging van een gemeenschappelijke ordening der markten in de sector oliën en vetten (3), laatstelijk gewijzigd bij Verordening (EG) nr. 3179/93 (4), een produktiesteunregeling voor olijfolie is vastgesteld; dat krachtens deze regeling steun wordt toegekend aan olijventelers met een gemiddelde produktie van ten minste 500 kg olijfolie, voor zover het bewijs wordt overgelegd dat de olijven in een erkende oliefabriek zijn verwerkt; dat het economische doel van deze steun wordt bereikt bij de verwerking van de olijven tot olie; dat dan ook wegens het zeer grote aantal olijventelers de toepassing van de bepalingen van artikel 10, lid 2, van Verordening (EEG) nr. 1068/93 precisering behoeft;

Acid oils from refining of by-products of olive oil or olive-residue oil falling within subheading 15.10 C of the Common Customs Tariff may be subject to the same treatment as by-products from refining of olive oil or olive-residue oil falling within subheading 15.17 B of the Common Customs Tariff.
