The only thing about the so-called minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to the risks arising from physical agents (optical radiation) – as the title puts it – to gain a firm hold on the public mind was that Brussels, in its mania for regulation, sought even to outlaw the rays of the sun, requiring barmaids to refrain from wearing low-cut dresses and even banning footballers from wearing shorts in future.
Van de zogeheten minimumvoorschriften inzake gezondheid en veiligheid met betrekking tot de blootstelling van werknemers aan de risico's van fysische agentia (optische straling) – zo luidt de titel – bleef bij het grote publiek alleen het volgende hangen: Brussel wil in zijn bedilzucht zelfs de zon verbieden te schijnen, serveersters mogen geen decolleté hebben en voetballers mogen in de toekomst geen korte broek meer dragen.

First, concerning the proposal for a Council Directive on the minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to the risks arising from physical agents – optical radiations, 1992/0449/COD, for which the screening exercise has led the Commission to conclude that the aspects dealing with exposure of workers to natural optical radiation should be deleted, as proposed also by the European Parliament.
Het eerste is een voorstel voor een richtlijn van het Europees Parlement en de Raad betreffende de minimumvoorschriften inzake gezondheid en veiligheid met betrekking tot de blootstelling van werknemers aan de risico's van fysische agentia (optische straling) (1992/0449/COD).
