Doha Modalities for the purpose of this Agreement means that consensus has been reached in the Trade Negotiations Committee to proceed to scheduling in Agriculture and Non-Agricultural Market Access negotiations.
In het kader van deze overeenkomst wordt onder Doha-modaliteiten verstaan dat in het Comité handelsbesprekingen bij de markttoegangsonderhandelingen voor landbouwproducten en niet-landbouwproducten overeenstemming is bereikt om over te gaan tot het opstellen van lijsten.

These developments are in line with statements in previous Committee opinions (2): ‘It will be necessary to work through the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in order to ensure the worldwide application of an Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS); as a practical first step, an intra-EU ETS could be a very feasible option, if this proves appropriate in the course of the negotiations’ (2006); ‘By bringing aviation within the remit of the European Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) the scheme is itself potentially strengthened and made more robust as the pre-eminent model for tackling CO2 emissions at a global level’ (2007); and more recently ‘The Committee accordingly welcomes initiative, which provides for a moratorium on the application of the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) to airlines operating flights into and out of the European Economic Area, pending the completion of the global negotiations’ (2013).

Calls on the Commission, in negotiations on EU trade agreements, including those with Canada and Ukraine, to take account of the interests of EU citizens, to maintain openness and to inform Parliament regularly about the progress of the negotiations; regrets that the Commission has not yet informed Parliament about the negotiations for a free trade agreement between the EU and Canada, even though these negotiations commenced in October 2009; calls on the Commission to provide Parliament and the committees responsible with detailed information on each further round of negotiations; is also concerned at possible concessions by the Commission in the negotiations, particularly in the areas of the opening up of markets, GMOs, milk, protection of intellectual property and origin labelling, and calls on the Commission not to make any concessions that might have a negative impact on European agriculture;

The Ministerial Trade Committee shall discuss any trade-related issue of concern to all ACP States and, in particular, regularly monitor the negotiations and implementation of Economic Partnership Agreements.

2. The Ministerial Trade Committee shall pay special attention to current multilateral trade negotiations and shall examine the impact of the wider liberalisation initiatives on ACP-EC trade and the development of ACP economies.
