8. Notes the establishment of a Group of Advisors, consisting of representatives of the Transatlantic Legislators' Dialogue, the Transatlantic Business Dialogue and the Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue; commends the contribution of legislators and stakeholders to the success of the first TEC meeting in November 2007; expresses the wish that the Labour Dialogue and the Environment Dialogue will play a greater role in the near future; calls for the heads of the Transatlantic Labour Dialogue (TALD) and the Environment Dialogue to be included in the Group of Advisors;

Emphasises that the concept of a "barrier-free transatlantic marketplace" should not lead to downward harmonization in transatlantic regulatory cooperation that would erode consumer confidence with regard to health and safety; therefore urges that the Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue and the Transatlantic Environmental Dialogue be revitalized to develop "best practices" to advance consumer health, safety and environmental protection, thus facilitating a more sustainable transatlantic marketplace;

Expresses its concern at the elimination of perceived barriers to transatlantic trade which will lead to a downward harmonisation in transatlantic regulatory cooperation that will further erode consumer confidence with regard to health and safety, and therefore urges that the Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue and the Transatlantic Environmental Dialogue be revitalised to develop 'best practices' that advance consumer health, safety and environmental protection, thus facilitating a more sustainable transatlantic marketplace; calls on the EU and the US to refrain from any new WTO complaint with regard to non-discriminatory consumer or environmental issues;

ADRs in the field of electronic commerce are the subject of recommendations issued by a number of international non-governmental organisations whose work is being closely followed by the Commission, such as the GBDe (Global Business Dialogue on e-commerce [37]), the TABD (Transatlantic Business Dialogue [38]) and the TACD (Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue [39]).
21. Supports the adoption at the EU-US Economic Ministerial Meeting of the joint EU-US Work Programme for the implementation of the Economic Declaration, which contains concrete activities in eleven areas to move forward transatlantic economic integration; calls, however, on both partners to engage in genuine implementation and deepening of this joint Work Programme with a greater and more ambitious sense of direction, long- term strategic objectives and a detailed timetable for the implementation of joint actions and projects that takes into account the specific role of independent regulatory agencies; notes in this respect that stakeholders from the already established transatlantic dialogues, including consumer groups, unions and environmental groups, should be more actively involved in the process of monitoring and reviewing the Economic Initiative and Work Programme;
