Ms Van Riet, who had been suffering from pain in her right wrist since 1985, asked the Amsterdam sickness fund to cover the cost of an arthroscopy and an ulnar reduction, both of which she had undergone in May 1993 in Belgium, without first having obtained authorisation.
Mevrouw Van Riet, die sinds 1985 last had van haar rechterpols, heeft het ziekenfonds te Amsterdam verzocht om vergoeding van een artroscopie en een ulnaverkorting, die zij in mei 1993 in België had ondergaan zonder voorafgaande toestemming.
