The bans on use and the provisions on recycling and destruction contained in the Regulation and, most importantly, similar provisions in the EU Waste Framework Directive and the Waste from Electric and Electronic Equipment Directive could capture most of these emissions, even though current EU waste recycling and recovery rates are acknowledged to be very low.
De gebruiksverboden en de bepalingen inzake recycling en vernietiging in de verordening en vooral de vergelijkbare bepalingen in de EU-kaderrichtlijn inzake afval en de richtlijn betreffende afgedankte elektrische en elektronische apparatuur zouden deze emissie voor het grootste deel af kunnen vangen, ook al is bekend dat het huidige recycling- en terugwinningspercentage voor afval in de EU erg laag is.
