Caelyx peut être utilisé en tant que chimiothérapie systémique de première intention, ou comme chimiothérapie de seconde intention chez des patients présentant un sarcome de Kaposi associé au Sida dont la maladie a progressé malgré une chimiothérapie préalable, comprenant au moins deux des agents suivants : alcaloïdes de la pervenche, bléomycine et doxorubicine conventionnelle (ou autre anthracycline), ou chez des patients qui y furent intolérants.
Caelyx kan worden gebruikt als systemische eerstelijnschemotherapie, of als tweedelijnschemotherapie bij AIDS-KS-patiënten bij wie de ziekte al gevorderd is ondanks, of bij patiënten die intolerant geworden zijn voor, de eerder toegepaste systemische combinatiechemotherapie met tenminste twee van de volgende stoffen: een vinca-alkaloïde, bleomycine en standaard doxorubicine (of een ander antracycline).

Pour la prise en charge au cours d’une chimiothérapie hautement émétisante, une dose de 8 mg peut être administrée en injection intraveineuse lente, sur une durée d’au moins 30 secondes, et suivie de deux doses intraveineuses supplémentaires de 8 mg, en respectant un intervalle de deux à quatre heures, ou en perfusion continue de 1 mg/heure pendant maximum 24 heures.
