Chez les patients porteurs d’une prothèse biologique, un traitement anticoagulant oral (INR entre 2,0 et 3,0) est généralement recommandé pendant les 3 premiers mois suivant l’implantation, suivi ensuite d’un traitement par de faibles doses d’acide acétylsalicylique; les anticoagulants oraux seront toutefois poursuivis indéfiniment en présence de facteurs de risque associés (antécédents de thrombo-embolie, thrombus dans l’oreillette gauche, dilatation de l’oreillette gauche, insuffisance cardiaque, fibrillation auriculaire).
