Au titre du septième programme-cadre de recherche (7 e PC), en cours actuellement, deux projets, ARCRISK (Arctic Health Risks: Impacts on health in the Arctic and Europe owing to climate-induced changes in contaminant cycling, risques pour la santé dans l'Arctique: les effets sur la santé dans l'Arctique et en Europe des modifications dans le cycle des contaminants induites par le climat) et CLEAR (Climate change, environmental contaminants and reproductive health, changement climatique, contaminants environnementaux et santé reproductive), examinant les risques associés aux modifications de la distribution des polluants environnementaux induites par le changement climatique pour la santé des populations de l'Arctique, ont été lancés en 2009 20 .
In het kader van het lopende zevende kaderprogramma voor onderzoek (KP7) vinden twee projecten plaats: ARCRISK (Arctische gezondheidsrisico's: effecten op de gezondheid in de Arctische gebieden en Europa ten gevolge van door het klimaat geïnduceerde veranderingen in de kringloop van vervuilende stoffen) en CLEAR (klimaatverandering, uit het milieu afkomstige vervuilende stoffen en reproductieve gezondheid). Beide projecten werden in 2009 gelanceerd en onderzoeken de risico's voor de bevolking van de Arctische gebieden van de door de klimaatverandering veroorzaakte veranderingen in de verspreiding van vervuilende stoffen afkomstig uit het milieu 20 .

- Il ressort d’une étude financée par la politique scientifique fédérale belge (ex- SSTC, Services fédéraux des affaires Scientifiques, Techniques et Culturelles) intitulée « Public health and cadmium exposure via the environment » (Research project HH/01/035 (1990-1995), promotor prof. dr J. Staessen, KULeuven) que les risques de dysfonctionnements rénaux sont supérieurs dans la population de zones contaminées par le cadmium et qu’il existe, pour ces populations, une corrélation positive entre le niveau de contamination du sol des jardins, le niveau de contamination des légumes cultivés dans ces jardins et les quantités de cadmium éliminées par les urines.
- Uit een door de Belgische Federaal wetenschapbeleid (vroegere DWTC, Federale Diensten voor Wetenschappelijke, Technische en Culturele aangelegenheden) gefinancierde studie met als titel « Public health and cadmium exposure via the environment » (Research project HH/01/035 (1990- 1995), promotor prof. dr J. Staessen, KULeuven) blijkt dat de kans op een slechte werking van de nieren groter is bij de bevolking van door cadmium verontreinigde gebieden en dat voor die bevolking er een positieve correlatie bestaat tussen het verontreinigingsniveau van de tuingrond, het verontreinigingniveau van de in deze tuinen geteelde groenten en de met de urine uitgescheiden hoeveelheden cadmium.
