Plus récemment, différentes autres études ont confirmé qu'un diagnostic de HPV posé à l'aide d'un test per primam est plus efficace et même plus rentable en termes de coûts que le test cytologique où les résultats faussement négatifs varient de 20 à 40 %, procurant aux femmes un apaisement trompeur (Ronco, G., e.a., « Efficacy of human papillomavirus testing for the detection of invasive cervical cancers and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia: a randomized controlled trial », Lancet Oncol., 2010 ; 11(3) : 249-57).
Meer recent hebben verschillende andere studies bevestigd dat HPV-diagnose testing per primam efficiënter is en zelfs meer kosteneffectief dan cytologische testing waarbij de vals negatieve variëren tussen de 20 en de 40 %, wat dan ook een valse geruststelling biedt aan vrouwen (Ronco, G., e.a., " Efficacy of human papillomavirus testing for the detection of invasive cervical cancers and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia: a randomized controlled trial" , Lancet Oncol., 2010; 11(3):249-57).
