Een andere basis voor deze kaderwet is de Conventie 155 van 1981 van het Internationaal Arbeidsbureau met als titel : Convention concerning occupational safety and health and the working environment (Conventie inzake gezondheid en veiligheid op het werk en de werkomgeving).

In het Belgisch Staatsblad nr. 50 van 17 februari 2003, blz. 7807 moet de officiële Engelse vertaling van de FOD « Volksgezondheid, Veiligheid Voedselketen en Leefmilieu » gelezen worden als « Health Food Chain Safety and Environment » in plaats van « Health, Food Chain Security and Environment ».
