Ces fonds s'ajoutent aux nombreux programmes contre le trafic d'espèces sauvages soutenus par l'UE, comme le programme MIKES (Minimising the Illegal Killing of Elephants and Other Endangered Species – réduire au minimum l'abattage illicite d'éléphants et d'autres espèces menacées) ou le projet ONUDC-CITES «Asia Wildlife Enforcement and Demand Management Project» (respect de la réglementation relative à la faune et la flore sauvages en Asie et gestion de la demande).
Deze financiële middelen komen bovenop vele andere door de EU gesteunde programma's tegen de illegale handel in wilde dieren en planten, zoals het programma Minimising the Illegal Killing of Elephants and other Endangered Species en het UNODC-CITES Asia Wildlife Enforcement and Demand Management Project.
