Points out that the issue of illegal immigration is dealt with in international conventions, that under the Cotonou Agreement the EU has undertaken to ensure that due respect is shown for human rights and human dignity, in accordance with the provisions of international law and international humanitarian law, in any procedures initiated with a view to sending illegal immigrants back to their countries of origin and, lastly, that the countries of origin of immigrants should, at the earliest opportunity, conclude agreements with the EU on the readmission of their nationals.
