– Madam President, as Europeans, we are particularly moved by the human rights situation in Iran, not only because we consider the EU to be a community of values and believe in a world without the death penalty, but also because today we are all too aware of the individuals behind the numbers.
– Frau Präsidentin! Als Europäer berührt uns die Menschenrechtssituation im Iran ganz besonders, nicht nur weil wir die EU als eine Wertegemeinschaft sehen, die an eine Welt ohne Todesstrafe glaubt, sondern auch weil wir heute die Einzelschicksale hinter den Zahlen kennen.

– (DE) Mijnheer de Voorzitter, ik wil een mondeling amendement indienen tot wijziging van paragraaf 8. Voor het laatste derde gedeelte stel ik de volgende Engelse formulering voor: “in expecting action by Iran to address also other concerns of the EU regarding the fight against terrorism, the respect for human rights and Iran’s approach to the Middle East peace process” en ik verzoek u mijn voorstel aan te nemen.
– Herr Präsident! Ich schlage eine mündliche Änderung zu Ziffer 8 vor. Ich schlage für das letzte Drittel folgende Formulierung vor: „in expecting action by Iran to address also other concerns of the EU regarding the fight against terrorism, the respect for human rights and Iran’s approach to the Middle East peace process“ und bitte Sie, meinen Vorschlag anzunehmen.
