De Raad nam een gemeenschappelijk standpunt en een motivering aan met het oog op de aanneming van een besluit van het Europees Parlement en van de Raad inzake de toepassing van area frame sampling en teledetectie voor landbouwstatistieken voor de periode 1999-2003.
The Council adopted a common position and a statement of reasons with a view to the adoption of a Decision of the European Parliament and of the Council on the application of aerial-survey and remote-sensing techniques to the agricultural statistics for 1999-2003.

- invoering op Europees niveau van een systeem van terreinonderzoeken (area frame sampling) van het type dat reeds is uitgevoerd in het kader van het MARS-project (gebiedsgewijs onderzoek van een representatieve steekproef);
