De Raad bevestigde opnieuw zijn gehechtheid aan de oprichting van het Internationaal Strafhof als essentiële stap ter bevordering van de eerbiediging van het humanitair recht en het recht inzake mensenrechten, waarmee wordt bijgedragen tot vrijheid, veiligheid, rechtvaardigheid en de rechtsstaat en tot handhaving van de vrede en versterking van de internationale veiligheid, zulks overeenkomstig de doelstellingen en beginselen van het Handvest van de Verenigde Naties.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to the International Criminal Court (ICC) as an essential means for promoting respect for humanitarian and human rights law, thus contributing to freedom, security, justice and the rule of law as well as to the preservation of peace and the strengthening of international security, in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.

It is recalled that the establishment of the International Criminal Court, for the purpose of preventing and curbing the commission of the serious crimes falling within its jurisdiction, is an essential means of promoting respect for international humanitarian law and human rights, thus contributing to freedom, security, justice and the rule of law as well as contributing to the preservation of peace and the strengthening of international security, in accordance with the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
