Het CESCR signaleert dat in Frankrijk de minimum huwelijksleeftijd voor meisjes 15 jaar is, en adviseert deze gelijk te trekken aan die voor jongens (18 jaar).

Het toezichtscomité voor het VN-Verdrag inzake de Economisch, Sociale en Culturele Rechten (CESCR), heeft er op gewezen dat gelijke behandeling voor de wet niet altijd voldoende is om gelijke aanspraak van minderheidsgroeperingen op met name hun sociaal-culturele rechten te kunnen realiseren.
