De culturele programma's Caleidoscoop, Ariane en Raphaël en daarna Cultuur 2000, respectievelijk ingesteld bij de Besluiten nrs. 719/96/EG , 2085/97/EG , 2228/97/EG en 508/2000/EG waren positieve momenten in de uitvoering van de communautaire actie op cultuurgebied.
The Kaleidoscope, Ariane, Raphael and Culture 2000 cultural programmes, set out respectively in Decisions Nos 719/96/EC , 2085/97/EC , 2228/97/EC and 508/2000/EC , marked positive stages in the implementation of Community action on culture.

Besluit nr. 719/96/EG van het Europees Parlement en de Raad van 29 maart 1996 tot vaststelling van een programma voor steun aan artistieke en culturele activiteiten met een Europese dimensie (Caleidoscoop) (PB L 99 van 20.4.1996, blz. 20).

(10) Met de culturele programma's Caleidoscoop, Ariane en Raphaël, die respectievelijk zijn vervat in Besluit nr. 719/96/EG(6), Besluit nr. 2085/97/EG(7) en Besluit nr. 2228/97/EG(8), van het Europees Parlement en de Raad, is een eerste stap in de goede richting gezet wat de uitvoering van het optreden van de Gemeenschap op cultureel gebied betreft. Het streven van de Gemeenschap op cultureel gebied moet vereenvoudigd en versterkt worden, uitgaande van de resultaten van de evaluatie en de resultaten van de bovengenoemde programma's.
(10) The Kaleidoscope, Ariane and Raphael cultural programmes set out, respectively, in Decision No 719/96/EC(6), in Decision No 2085/97/EC(7) and in Decision No 2228/97/EC(8) of the European Parliament and of the Council marked the first positive stage in the implementation of Community action on culture; however, the Community's cultural endeavours should be simplified and reinforced on the basis of the results of the evaluation and achievements of the abovementioned programmes.
