TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

In de resolutie van de Raad van december 1998 inzake de preventie van de georganiseerde criminaliteit en in de conclusies van de conferentie op hoog niveau van mei 2000 over de misdaadpreventie wordt de Commissie verzocht de bestaande communautaire beleidsmaatregelen en instrumenten vanuit het gezichtspunt van hun bijdrage aan de misdaadpreventie te evalueren.
The Council Resolution of December 1998 on the prevention of organised crime and the conclusions of the High-Level Conference of May 2000 on crime prevention, asked the Commission to evaluate existing Community policies and instruments in terms of their contribution to crime prevention.

The NNI proposed by the Commission will focus in particular on promoting sustainable economic and social development of these border regions, ensuring the smooth functioning and secure management of the future external borders, addressing common challenges facing the EU and its neighbours like environment, public health, and the prevention of and fight against organised crime, and pursuing people to people co-operation between the EU Member States and their neighbours.

call on the Commission immediately to incorporate the "Quality Charter for Criminal Justice in Europe", the mutual evaluation mechanism and supplementary measures for the harmonisation of certain criminal provisions into the Action Plan which it is due to submit in 2005 in accordance with the Hague Programme; note, in this connection, that Parliament joins the European Council in recommending that the Commission adopt the provisions contained in the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe as the reference framework for the Action Plan;

The European Parliament expects the Commission to submit a proposal for a decision to the Council at the earliest opportunity, defining the rules according to which the Member States, in cooperation with the Commission, may carry out an objective and impartial evaluation of the level of fulfilment of the criteria laid down in the quality charter for criminal justice in Europe.

Although the Commission is not required to publish a report on the Decision's transposition, it has decided to do so, since a considerable number of Member States need to adapt national law provisions and since Eurojust plays a very important role for criminal justice both within the EU and for judicial cooperation with third countries.

1. Before 17 July 2003, and thereafter every two years, the Commission shall submit to the European Parliament, the Council and the Economic and Social Committee a report on the application of this Directive, accompanied, where necessary, by proposals for adapting it to legal, technical and economic developments in the field of information society services, in particular with respect to crime prevention, the protection of minors, consumer protection and to the proper functioning of the internal market.
