Na de bijwerking van de tekst door de juristen-vertalers heeft de Raad op 9 december 2014 zijn standpunt vastgesteld volgens de gewone wetgevingsprocedure in artikel 294 van het Verdrag betreffende de werking van de Europese Unie.
Following legal/linguistic revision, the Council adopted its Position on 9 December 2014 in accordance with the ordinary legislative procedure laid down in Article 294 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.

De tekst van het standpunt van de Raad vormt een volledige weergave van het compromis dat tussen de twee medewetgevers is bereikt en dat in de brief van het Parlement van 11 februari 2014 is vervat en vervolgens door de juristen-vertalers is bijgewerkt.
The text of the Council position fully reflects the compromise that was reached between the two co-legislators, that was contained in the Parliament's letter of 11 February 2014, and that was subsequently corrected to reflect legal and linguistic review.

Het standpunt van de Raad in eerste lezing stemt daadwerkelijk overeen met de bovenbedoelde tekst van het akkoord, zoals gewijzigd na bijwerking door de juristen-vertalers.
The Council's position at first reading is indeed in line with the above-mentioned agreement text, as amended to reflect the subsequent legal and linguistic revision.

De voorzitter van de Commissie internationale handel (INTA) van het Europees Parlement heeft het voorzitterschap per brief van 21 januari 2014 laten weten dat, indien de Raad de bij die brief gevoegde tekst formeel als zijn standpunt aan het Parlement doet toekomen, hij de plenaire vergadering zal aanbevelen het standpunt van de Raad, na bijwerking door de juristen-vertalers, zonder amendementen in de tweede lezing van het Parlement aan te nemen.
The Chair of the European Parliament's INTA Committee has indicated, in a letter of 21 January 2014, to the Presidency that, should the Council transmit formally to the Parliament its position in the form as it stands in the annex to that letter, he would recommend to the Plenary that the Council's position be accepted without amendment, subject to legal-linguistic verification, at the Parliament's second reading.

De commissievoorzitters kregen de opdracht de voorzitter van het Coreper per brief mee te delen dat, indien de Raad de als bijlage bij de brief gevoegde tekst formeel als zijn standpunt aan het Parlement doet toekomen, zij als commissievoorzitters de plenaire vergadering zullen aanbevelen het standpunt van de Raad, na verificatie door de juristen-vertalers, zonder amendementen in tweede lezing aan te nemen.
The Chairs were mandated to write a letter to the President of COREPER stating that, should the Council transmit formally to the Parliament its position in the form as it stands in the annex of the letter, they would, in their capacity as Chair of the Committee, recommend to the Plenary that the Council's position be accepted without amendment, subject to legal-linguistic verification, at Parliament's second reading.

The opinion of the European Parliament has been examined by the competent bodies of the Council and the text of the proposal is still subject to some procedural requirements, namely its finalisation by the Legal-Linguists, with a view to its formal adoption, which is expected to take place in the coming months.

Het gemeenschappelijk standpunt zal tijdens een volgende zitting van de Raad zonder discussie formeel worden aangenomen nadat de tekst zal zijn bijgewerkt door de Groep juristen/vertalers; de tekst zal vervolgens ter tweede lezing worden toegezonden aan het Europees Parlement.
The common position will be formally adopted, without discussion, at a future Council meeting once the text has undergone legal and linguistic finalisation, before being transmitted to the European Parliament for a second reading.

De reden dat de Raad ten aanzien van deze richtlijn nog geen gemeenschappelijk standpunt heeft aangenomen, was in eerste instantie van louter procedurele aard: de juristen-vertalers van de Raad hadden de juridische toetsing van de tekst van het gemeenschappelijk standpunt niet tijdig afgerond.
