Specifiek ten aanzien van sociale diensten van algemeen belang (SDAB's) heeft het Europees Comité voor sociale bescherming in 2010 een vrijwillig communautair kwaliteitskader gepubliceerd met richtsnoeren over hoe kwaliteitsnormen opgesteld, gecontroleerd en geëvalueerd moeten worden.
Specifically as regards social services of general interest (SSGIs), the European Social Protection Committee in 2010 published a voluntary EU quality framework providing guidelines on how to set, monitor and evaluate quality standards.

Het Europees Economisch en Sociaal Comité heeft twee adviezen uitgebracht, één over de strategie inzake de economische en sociale cohesie en één over de toekomst van het cohesiebeleid in het licht van de uitbreiding en de overgang naar een kenniseconomie.
The European Economic and Social Committee issued two opinions, one on the strategy for economic and social cohesion and the other on the future of cohesion policy in the context of enlargement and the transition to a learning society.

In its first opinion, the Committee identified the challenges facing the Union (enlargement, globalisation, a growing dynamic between the centre and the periphery, macro-economic stability, etc.) and the consequences to be drawn; maintaining aid under Objective 1 beyond 2006; overcoming the negative statistical impact of enlargement on average per capita GDP; raising the ceiling set at 0.45% of GDP for the Structural Funds; creating a resource to stabilise regional income in the event of an unexpected economic shock; consolidating the programme of Community Initiatives; adopting an open method of coordination to deal with the problems of economic and social cohesion which the Objective 2 regions are experiencing, and giving priority to investment in the less-favoured regions.

In its supplementary opinion on the Second Report on Economic and Social Cohesion, adopted on 25 April 2001, the Committee came out in favour of a thorough reform of the principles, general conditions, definition and arrangements for cohesion policy in the context of the enlargement of the Union.

Ten slotte roept het Comité in zijn advies op om alle vormen van Gemeenschapsbeleid en alle financiële instrumenten beter te coördineren met het beleid inzake economische en sociale cohesie.

31. roept de Europese Unie daarnaast op om ook toe treden tot de organen van de Raad van Europa zoals het Europees Comité inzake de voorkoming van foltering en onmenselijke of vernederende behandeling of bestraffing, de Europese Commissie tegen Racisme en Intolerantie (ECRI) en de Europese Commissie voor Efficiëntie in Justitie (CEPEJ); verlangt eveneens dat de Unie wordt betrokken bij de werkzaamheden van de Commissaris voor de rechten van de mens, van het Europees Comité voor Sociale Rechten (ECSR), van het sociale regeringscomité en van het Europees Comité voor Migratie, en verlangt geïnformeerd te worden over de conclusies en besluiten die worden genomen door de bovengenoemde organen;
31. Calls, further, for the Union to accede to Council of Europe bodies such as the Committee on the Prevention of Torture (CPT), the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) and the European Commission on the Efficiency of Justice (CEPEJ); stresses also the need for the Union to be involved in the work of the Commissioner for Human Rights, the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR), the Governmental Social Committee and the European Committee on Migration, and asks to be duly informed of the conclusions and decisions of these bodies;

The Commission shall establish regular and structured co-operation between this Committee, the European Social Protection Committee, as agreed in the conclusions of the Lisbon European Council, and the monitoring committees established for other relevant policies, instruments and actions.
