IN-CONTEXT TRANSLATIONS

Vertegenwoordigers van de academische wereld, niet-gouvernementele organisaties, het bedrijfsleven, het maatschappelijk middenveld, het Europees Economisch en Sociaal Comité en het Europees Comité van de Regio's kwamen bijeen om steun en advies te geven aan de Commissie bij het uitvoeren van de duurzame-ontwikkelingsdoelstellingen op EU-niveau.
Representatives from academia, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), businesses, civil society, the European Economic and Social Committee and the European Committee of the Regions came together to support and advise the Commission in delivering the SDGs at EU level.

Dit verslag wordt ingediend krachtens artikel 8 van Besluit nr. 508/2000/EG van 14 februari 2000 tot instelling van het programma "Cultuur 2000" (hierna te noemen: "het besluit") [2], waarin is vastgelegd dat de Commissie uiterlijk op 31 december 2002 aan het Europees Parlement, de Raad, het Europees Economisch en Sociaal Comité en het Comité van de Regio's en gedetailleerd evaluatierapport moet voorleggen over de resultaten van het programma Cultuur 2000 ten aanzien van de doelstellingen van dat programma en zo nodig vergezeld van een voorstel tot wijziging van het besluit.
This report is being presented under Article 8 of Decision 508/2000/EC of 14 February 2000 establishing the Culture 2000 Programme (hereinafter the "Decision") [2], which establishes that no later than 31 December 2002 the Commission shall present to the European Parliament, the Council, the Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions a detailed assessment report on the results of the Culture 2000 Programme, having regard to its objectives, and accompanied if necessary by a proposal for the amendment of the Decision.

Om de Gemeenschap, de lidstaten en uiteindelijk ook het bedrijfsleven beter in staat te stellen problemen op het gebied van netwerk- en informatieveiligheid te voorkomen, bestrijden en op te lossen, is in 2004 het Europees Agentschap voor netwerk- en informatiebeveiliging (ENISA) opgericht voor een periode van vijf jaar[3]. Het hoofddoel van dit agentschap is "te zorgen voor een hoog en doeltreffend niveau van netwerk- en informatiebeveiliging in de Gemeenschap en (.) een cultuur van netwerk- en informatiebeveiliging ten behoeve van de burgers, consumenten, bedrijven en publieke organen in de Europese Unie tot stand te brengen en op die manier bij te dragen tot de goede werking van de interne markt".
In order to enhance the capacity of the Community, the Member States and consequently the business community to prevent, to address and to respond to major network and information security risks, the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) was established in 2004 for a period of five years.[3] The Agency was established with the main goal of “ensuring a high and effective level of network and information security within the Community, (..) in order to develop a culture of network and information security for the benefit of the citizens, consumers, enterprises and public sector organisations of the European Union, thus contributing to the smooth functioning of the internal market”.

(2) De mededeling van de Commissie aan het Europees Parlement, de Raad, het Europees Economisch en Sociaal Comité en het Comité van de Regio's over een Europese agenda voor cultuur in het licht van de mondialisering, bekrachtigd door de Raad in zijn resolutie van 16 november 2007 over een Europese agenda voor cultuur, legt de doelstellingen voor toekomstige activiteiten van de Unie op cultureel gebied vast.
(2) The Communication from the Commission to the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee and the Committee of the Regions on a European agenda for culture in a globalizing world, endorsed by the Council in Resolution of 16 November 2007 on a European Agenda for Culture sets the objectives for future activities of the Union in the field of culture.

Ik ben van mening dat het aannemen van het pakket betreffende het financieel toezicht, en dan met name de oprichting van het Europees Comité voor systeemrisico’s, een goede stap is op weg naar het behalen van de doelstelling van een geharmoniseerd Europees toezichtssysteem dat de burger en het bedrijfsleven vertrouwen geeft.
It is my view that the adoption of the financial supervision package and, in particular, the creation of the European Systemic Risk Board, is an important step towards meeting the objective of a harmonised supervision system in Europe in order to create confidence among businesses and citizens.

5) De biregionale betrekkingen dienen geleidelijk aan te worden geïntensiveerd en verrijkt, en dus ook te worden gediversifieerd, door er de regeringen en de politici, de sociale sector -bedrijfsleven en vakbonden-, de steden en de regio's, de wereld van de cultuur, de universiteiten en de onderzoekscentra, alsmede de representatieve sectoren van de civil society geleidelijk aan bij te betrekken. Daartoe dient het in artikel 52 van de overeenkomst bedoelde Gemengd Raadgevend Comité, dat de Commissie moet helpen de dialoog met de georganiseerde civiele samenleving te stimuleren, te worden opgericht.
(5) Biregional relations need to be further developed on an ongoing basis and, therefore, diversified, with the increasing involvement of government and political figures, the two sides of industry, the cities and the regions, the arts world, universities and research centres and sectors representing civil society, with the establishment of the joint consultative committee provided for in Article 52 of the Agreement to assist the joint committee in promoting dialogue with civil society.

Verslag van de Commissie aan de Raad, aan het Europees Parlement, aan het Europees Economisch en Sociaal Comité en aan het Comité van de regio's - Verslag over de tenuitvoerlegging van het programma "Cultuur 2000" in de jaren 2000 en 2001 [COM(2003) 722 def. - Niet in het Publicatieblad verschenen]. Hoewel het programma Cultuur 2000 vooral aansluit op andere activiteiten van de Gemeenschap en op de beleidsprogramma's voor cultuur van de afzonderlijke lidstaten, heeft het een uitzonderlijke bijdrage geleverd tot de culturele samenwerking in Europa.
While continuing to be complementary to other Community actions and the cultural policies of the Member States, the Culture 2000 programme has made an exceptional contribution to cultural cooperation in Europe. In 2000 and 2001, more than 1 600 applications were submitted under the programme, of which approximately one quarter received funding.
