In de verordening over het financieringsinstrument voor de oriëntatie van de visserij (FIOV) worden de politieke prioriteiten vastgelegd alsmede het interventiekader voor de visserij- en aquacultuursector gedurende de periode 2000-2006.
The Regulation on the Financial Instrument for Fisheries Guidance (FIFG) sets out the policy priorities and the terms of assistance for the fisheries and aquaculture sector for the period 2000-06.

2. dringt erop aan dat deze nieuwe verordening voor de visserij alle structuurmaatregelen ten behoeve van de visserij samenvoegt, d.w.z. de huidige Verordening 3699/93 over structuurmaatregelen in de visserijsector, waarmee het FIOV in het leven werd geroepen, Verordening 2080/93 over de toepassing van het FIOV en Verordening 2719/95 over de financiering van sociale maatregelen in de visserijsector en het Visserij-initiatief.

Calls for the new Regulation on the fisheries sector to combine within a single framework all structural measures for the fisheries sector, namely Regulation No 3699/93 on structural assistance in the fisheries sector establishing the FIFG, Regulation No 2080/93 implementing the FIFG, and Regulation No 2719/95 on funding for social measures in the fisheries sector and the PESCA initiative;
