Het onderzoek wordt geconcentreerd op: voor zonnecellen: de hele productieketen van uitgangsmateriaal tot fotovoltaïsch systeem alsmede de integratie van zonnecellen in de leefomgeving en in grootschalige fotovoltaïsche systemen (in de orde van megawatts) voor de opwekking van elektriciteit; Voor biomassa: het wegnemen van de barrières die het goed functioneren van de biomassatoeleverings- en -toepassingsketen in de weg staan, en wel op de volgende gebieden: stooktechnologieën, vergassingstechnologieën voor de productie van elektriciteit en H2/synthesegas en biobrandstoffen voor het vervoer.
Research will focus on: for photovoltaics: the whole production chain from basic material to the PV system, as well as on the integration of PV in habitat and large scale MW-size PV systems for production of electricity. For biomass, barriers in the biomass supply-use chain will be addressed in the following areas: production, combustion technologies, gasification technologies for electricity and H2/syngas production and biofuels for transport.
