The Council decided not to oppose adoption by the Commission of a decision aimed at ensuring that essential requirements for the provision of clear and robust communications are met by marine radio communication equipment intended to be used on ships to which the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) does not apply and intended to participate in the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) (13200/12).
