Alvorens de EG-verklaring van conformiteit of gebruiksgeschiktheid af te geven krachtens artikel 5 van Verordening (EG) nr. 552/2004, beoordelen de fabrikanten van onderdelen van de in artikel 2, lid 1, van de verordening bedoelde systemen de conformiteit of de gebruiksgeschiktheid van deze onderdelen overeenkomstig de in bijlage IV, deel A, bij deze verordening vermelde eisen.
1. Before issuing an EC declaration of conformity or suitability for use pursuant to Article 5 of Regulation (EC) No 552/2004, manufacturers of constituents of the systems referred to in Article 2(1) of this Regulation shall assess the conformity or suitability for use of these constituents in compliance with the requirements set out in Annex IV, Part A, to this Regulation.

Upon satisfying completion of verification of conformity or suitability for use, the manufacturer shall under its responsibility draw up the EC declaration of conformity or suitability for use, specifying the applicable requirements of this Regulation met by the constituent and its associated conditions of use in accordance with point 3 of Annex III to Regulation (EC) No 552/2004.
