Except when decided otherwise by the Joint Committee, the contested conformity assessment body shall be suspended by the competent designating authority from the time its technical competence and compliance is contested in accordance with this Article until either agreement is reached in the Joint Committee on the status of that body or the challenging Party notifies the other Party and the Joint Committee that it is satisfied as to the technical competence and compliance of that body".

Calls on the Commission to forward to Parliament the minutes and the conclusions of the meetings of the Joint Committee provided for in Article 9 of the Agreement, as well as the multiannual sectoral programme provided for in Article 3 of the new Protocol and the corresponding annual evaluations; calls on the Commission to facilitate the participation of representatives of Parliament as observers in the meetings of the Joint Committee; calls on the Commission to submit to Parliament and the Council, within the last year of application of the new Protocol and before the opening of negotiations for its renewal, a full evaluation report on its implementation, without imposing unnecessary restrictions on access to this document;

Hopes that those responsible for the assassination of Benazir Bhutto are identified and held responsible as soon as possible; notes the worsening human rights situation in Pakistan throughout 2007, including in particular the threats to the independence of the judiciary and the freedom of the media; with that in mind, condemns the defamation campaign against Iftikhar Mohammad Choudhry, former Chief Justice of Pakistan, as well as the fact that he has been removed from office and placed under house arrest; calls on the Council and the Commission to support the movement for democracy started by the judiciary and the bar, particularly by extending invitations to some of their representatives, including Mr Choudhry; calls for the reinstitution of all deposed judges; notes the adoption of a new Country Strategy Paper for Pakistan and welcomes the mainstreaming of conflict prevention and human rights throughout that document; notes that the first meeting of the European Community-Pakistan Joint Commission was held in Islamabad on 24 May 2007 and stresses the need for human rights to be at the forefront of the agenda for all subsequent meetings;

The Parties are committed to engage in a comprehensive dialogue on migration management within the framework of the Joint Commission to be established under the EC — Pakistan Third Generation Cooperation Agreement.

5. Partijen komen overeen dat de Gemengde Commissie tot taak heeft de goede werking te verzekeren van alle sectorovereenkomsten die zijn of zullen worden gesloten tussen de Gemeenschap en Pakistan.
5. The Parties agree that it shall also be the task of the Joint Commission to ensure the proper functioning of any sectoral agreements concluded or to be concluded between the Community and Pakistan.
