De soorten die bestemd zijn voor de communautaire conservenindustrie zijn hoofdzakelijk tropische soorten: de geelvintonijn (thunnus albacores), de gestreepte bonito (katsuwonus pelamis) en de grootoogtonijn (thunnus obesus), en in veel mindere mate de witte tonijn (thunnus alalunga).
The species canned in the Community are essentially tropical: yellowfin (Thunnus albacares), skipjack (Katsuwonus pelamis), bigeye (Thunnus obesus), and, to a much lesser extent, long-fin tunny (Thunnus alalunga).
