In november 2001 is op de 31ste vergadering van de Internationale Raad voor Tropisch Hout (ITTC) een besluit genomen inzake rechtshandhaving in de bosbouwsector in de context van duurzame productie van en handel in hout.

(7 bis) De Commissie legt het Europees Parlement en de Raad een jaarverslag voor met een analyse van de tenuitvoerlegging van de Internationale Overeenkomst inzake tropisch hout 2006 en van maatregelen om de nadelige gevolgen van de handel voor de tropische bossen te minimaliseren, waaronder overeenkomstig het programma Wetshandhaving, bestuur en handel in de bosbouw (FLEGT) gesloten bilaterale overeenkomsten.
(7a) The Commission should submit to the European Parliament and the Council an annual report with an analysis of the implementation of the International Tropical Timber Agreement, 2006 and of measures to minimise the negative impact of trade on tropical forests, including bilateral agreements concluded pursuant to the Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) programme.

d) Door input te blijven geven aan bestaande internationale fora , zoals de Internationale organisatie voor tropisch hout, de Overeenkomst inzake de internationale handel in bedreigde in het wild levende dier- en plantensoorten (CITES) en het VN-bossenforum (UNFF), en door verder aandacht te besteden aan de beoordeling in 2015 van het niet juridisch bindende Instrument voor bossen van het UNFF.
d) By continuing to provide input to existing international fora , such as the International Tropical Timber Organisation, the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and the UN Forum on Forests (UNFF), and giving further consideration to the 2015 review of the UNFF Non-Legally Binding Instrument on Forests.
