De Unie heeft met de Islamitische Republiek Mauritanië onderhandeld over een nieuw protocol („het protocol”) waarbij aan de EU-vaartuigen vangstmogelijkheden worden geboden in de wateren waarover Mauritanië de soevereiniteit en de jurisdictie voor visserijaangelegenheden uitoefent.
The Union has negotiated a new Protocol with the Islamic Republic of Mauritania (‘the new Protocol’) granting EU vessels fishing opportunities in waters in which Mauritania exercises its sovereignty or its jurisdiction as regards fishing.

Op 30 november 2006 heeft de Raad Verordening (EG) nr. 1801/2006 betreffende de sluiting van de Partnerschapsovereenkomst inzake visserij tussen de Europese Gemeenschap en de Islamitische Republiek Mauritanië (1) („de partnerschapsovereenkomst”) goedgekeurd.
On 30 November 2006, the Council adopted Regulation (EC) No 1801/2006 on the conclusion of the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Community and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania (1) (‘the Partnership Agreement’).

Het Protocol tot vaststelling van de vangstmogelijkheden en de financiële tegenprestatie waarin is voorzien bij de Partnerschapsovereenkomst inzake visserij tussen de Europese Unie en de Islamitische Republiek Mauritanië voor een periode van twee jaar („het protocol”) (3), wordt namens de Unie goedgekeurd.
The Protocol setting out the fishing opportunities and financial contribution provided for in the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania for a period of two years (‘the Protocol’) (3) is hereby approved on behalf of the Union.

The Council was briefed by Commissioner Joe Borg on the ongoing discussions with Mauritania on the existing Protocol setting out the fishing opportunities and financial contribution provided for in the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the European Community and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania .
