132. herinnert aan Resolutie 11/8 van de VN-Mensenrechtenraad over te voorkomen sterfte en ziekte in het kraambed en mensenrechten, waarin wordt bevestigd dat de mensenrechten van vrouwen en meisjes, en met name hun recht op leven, onderwijs, informatie en gezondheid, doeltreffend moeten worden bevorderd en beschermd om sterfte en ziekte onder moeders te voorkomen; onderstreept dat de EU daarom een belangrijke rol moet spelen bij het verlagen van het aantal te voorkomen complicaties vóór, tijdens en na de zwangerschap en geboorte;

Recalls the UN Human Rights Council Resolution 11/8 entitled ‘Preventable maternal mortality and morbidity and human rights’, which affirms that the prevention of maternal mortality and morbidity requires the effective promotion and protection of the human rights of women and girls, in particular their rights to life, education, information and health; stresses that the EU must therefore play an important role in contributing to the decline of preventable complications occurring before, during and after pregnancy and childbirth;
