TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

Krachtens Beschikking 2007/504/EG van de Raad van 10 juli 2007 overeenkomstig artikel 122, lid 2, van het Verdrag betreffende de aanneming van de eenheidsmunt door Malta op 1 januari 2008 (7) voldoet Malta aan de nodige voorwaarden voor de aanneming van de eenheidsmunt en wordt de derogatie van Malta met ingang van 1 januari 2008 ingetrokken.
Pursuant to Council Decision 2007/504/EC of 10 July 2007 in accordance with Article 122(2) of the Treaty on the adoption by Malta of the single currency on 1 January 2008 (7), Malta fulfils the necessary conditions for the adoption of the single currency and the derogation in favour of Malta is to be abrogated with effect from 1 January 2008.

Krachtens Beschikking 2007/504/EG van de Raad van 10 juli 2007 overeenkomstig artikel 122, lid 2, van het Verdrag betreffende de aanneming van de eenheidsmunt door Malta op 1 januari 2008 (3), voldoet Malta aan de nodige voorwaarden voor de aanneming van de eenheidsmunt en wordt de derogatie van Malta met ingang van 1 januari 2008 ingetrokken.
Pursuant to Council Decision 2007/504/EC of 10 July 2007 in accordance with Article 122(2) of the Treaty on the adoption by Malta of the single currency on 1 January 2008 (3), Malta fulfils the necessary conditions for the adoption of the single currency and the derogation of Malta is abrogated with effect from 1 January 2008.

I. whereas the Commission is investigating whether Malta's transposition of the Birds Directive fulfils the requirements of the Directive and whether the legislation is being correctly applied, and has commenced infringement proceedings against Malta for failure to comply fully with Article 9 of the Directive,

F. whereas the average number of people arriving in Malta each year is equivalent to 45% of the birth rate in Malta and, in relative terms, one arrival in Malta corresponds to 140 in Italy, 150 in France and 205 in Germany; whereas in 2005 1 800 people arrived in Malta, which is equivalent to 252 000 in Italy, 270 000 in France and 369 000 in Germany,

B. overwegende dat een delegatie van zijn Commissie burgerlijke vrijheden, justitie en binnenlandse zaken zich op 24 maart 2006 naar Malta heeft begeven voor een bezoek aan de administratieve detentiecentra, met name die van Ħal Safi, Ħal Far en Lyster Barracks en een ontmoeting met de autoriteiten van Malta en NGO's over het immigratievraagstuk,
B. whereas a delegation from its Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs went to Malta on 24 March 2006 in order to visit administrative detention centres, in particular the centres of Ħal Safi, Ħal Far and Lyster Barracks, and to meet the Maltese authorities and the NGOs dealing with immigration,

Ingevolge artikel 1 van Beschikking 2007/504/EG van de Raad van 10 juli 2007, overeenkomstig artikel 122, lid 2 van het Verdrag betreffende de aanneming van de eenheidsmunt door Malta op 1 januari 2008 (4), wordt de in artikel 4 van het Toetredingsverdrag van 2003 bedoelde derogatie van Malta met ingang van 1 januari 2008 ingetrokken; overwegende dat de euro met ingang van 1 januari 2008 de munt van Malta zal zijn; overwegende dat de Bank Centrali ta' Malta/Central Bank of Malta met ingang van die datum niet langer partij dient te zijn bij de ERM II Centrale Bank Overeenkomst.
Pursuant to Article 1 of Council Decision 2007/504/EC of 10 July 2007 in accordance with Article 122(2) of the Treaty on the adoption by Malta of the single currency on 1 January 2008 (4) the derogation in favour of Malta referred to in Article 4 of the 2003 Act of Accession is abrogated with effect from 1 January 2008; whereas the euro will be Malta's currency from 1 January 2008; whereas the Central Bank of Malta should no longer be party to the ERM II Central Bank Agreement from that date.

To avoid many farmers in Malta being disqualified from the area based direct payments, the minimum size of application to area based direct payments in Malta should be fixed at 0.1 ha and, for the years 2005 and 2006, Malta should be allowed to derogate from Article 107(9) of Regulation (EC) No 1782/2003.
