Het komt wenselijk voor om, gelet op de bijzondere eigenschappen van homeopathische geneesmiddelen, zoals de zeer lage concentratie werkzame bestanddelen en de geringe toepasbaarheid van conventionele statistische methoden voor klinische proeven, een speciale vereenvoudigde registratieprocedure in te voeren voor traditionele homeopathische geneesmiddelen die zonder therapeutische indicatie in een voor het dier ongevaarlijke farmaceutische vorm en dosering in de handel worden gebracht.
Having regard to the particular characteristics of these homeopathic veterinary medicinal products, such as the very low level of active principles they contain and the difficulty of applying to them the conventional statistical methods relating to clinical trials, it is desirable to provide a special, simplified registration procedure for those traditional homeopathic medicinal products which are placed on the market without therapeutic indications in a pharmaceutical form and dosage which do not present a risk for the animal.

For the purposes of this Directive, 'residues` means all active ingredients or metabolites thereof which remain in meat or other foodstuffs produced from the animal to which the medicinal product in question has been administered.

Het resultaat van de toxicologische en farmacologische proeven moet met name betrekking hebben op het metabolisme van de werkzame bestanddelen in het dier en, voor zover mogelijk, op de wijze en de duur van de verwijdering daarvan indien deze gegevens van belang zijn voor de controle van de aangegeven wachttijd.
The results of the toxicological and pharmacological tests must relate more particularly to the metabolism of the active ingredients in the animal and as far as possible to the mode and duration of their elimination, if such data are important for the purpose of checking the indicated withdrawal period.
