TRADUCTIONS EN CONTEXTE

AB. overwegende dat biomassa in het algemeen via conventionele verbranding voor 15 % van de energiebehoeften in de Unie kan instaan; overwegende dat verdere vooruitgang kan worden geboekt door pyrolyse, een proces dat het waterstofgehalte als moleculaire waterstof vrijmaakt en de meest directe en gemakkelijkste methode voor waterstofproductie vormt; voorts overwegende dat dit aan een efficiëntere elektriciteitsproductie kan bijdragen, namelijk door gecombineerde cycli of door brandstofcellen met een hogere efficiëntie en flexibiliteit; overwegende dat dit gebruik van biomassa een bijkomende bron van inkomsten voor de landbouw- en bosbouwsector betekent en bijgevolg een basis voor het heroverwegen van het Gemeenschappelijk Landbouwbeleid is,
AB. whereas biomass in general can contribute 15% of the energy needs in the EU by conventional combustion; whereas further progress will be possible by pyrolysis processing that allows the hydrogen content to be freed as molecular hydrogen and represents the most direct and convenient method of hydrogen production, and this will be able to feed either higher efficiency electricity production by combined cycles or fuel cells with a further increase of efficiency and flexibility; whereas this biomass use will be an additional income for the agriculture and forestry sector and therefore a basis for a reconsideration of the Common Agricultural Policy,

H. overwegende dat de biotechnologie niet een nauwkeurig afgebakende sector vormt maar in de wetenschap en industrie grenzen overschrijdt (moleculaire biologie, scheikunde, natuurkunde, geneeskunde, informatica, geneesmiddelen, landbouw) waarbij derhalve een aantal afdelingen van de Commissie en nationale ministeries betrokken is,
H. whereas biotechnology is not a narrowly specific sector but crosses boundaries in science and industry (molecular biology, chemistry, physics, medicine, informatics, pharmaceuticals, agriculture) and therefore involves several departments in the Commission and Member State governments,

32. BEKLEMTOONT dat moderne biotechnologie op economisch en milieugebied substantiële mogelijkheden biedt voor de Europese land- en bosbouw, ook voor toepassingen die geen verband houden met voedsel of diervoeding, zoals industriële verwerking en moleculaire landbouw, mits deze veilig kunnen worden gebruikt voor het milieu en de menselijke gezondheid, zulks op basis van de resultaten van gedegen wetenschappelijk onderzoek, op een economisch haalbare manier, met inachtneming van het recht van de consumenten om met kennis van zaken te kiezen en rekening houdend met alle productiewijzen in de landbouw;
32. STRESSES that modern biotechnology has a significant economic and environmental potential for European agriculture and forestry, including for non-food or non-feed applications, such as industrial transformation and molecular farming, provided that these can be used safely for the environment and human health, based on results of sound scientific studies, in an economically viable form and in the respect of the consumers' right to make an informed choice and of all modes of agricultural production;
