In het voorstel wordt ook de rol van de Regionale Adviesraad gespecificeerd, een orgaan dat expliciet in het leven is geroepen om de vissers te betrekken bij en een stem te geven in de politieke besluitvorming, opdat de communautaire wetgeving meer en meer in lijn komt met de realiteit en de problematiek binnen de visserijsector. Wij zijn zeer gelukkig met de rol die de verordening voor de visvangst in de Middellandse Zee speelt bij het invoeren van gemeenschappelijke regels, maar juist daarom is het van belang dat alle niet-EU-landen rond de Middellandse zee hun wetgeving aanpassen aan dit beleid ter bescherming van de visbestanden.
The proposal also specifies the role of the Regional Advisory Council, a body expressly created to promote the direct involvement of fishermen, and the vehicle for bringing first-hand experiences to the decision-making process, in order that Community legislation is increasingly in line with reality and the problems of the fisheries sector. We greatly welcome the role of the regulation for the Mediterranean in introducing common rules, but for this very reason all the non-European countries bordering the Mediterranean need to adapt their legislation to the stock conservation policy.
