De Autoriteit maakt gebruik van de lopende activiteiten op het gebied van onderzoek, ontwikkeling en technologische evaluatie, met name die welke worden uitgevoerd door het ESA.
The Authority should utilise ongoing research, development and technological assessment activities, in particular those carried out by ESA.

(12) A Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the assessment and management of environmental noise(7) which is a horizontal measure covering all modes of transport has introduced a common approach for the assessment and management of environmental noise.

2. Drie jaar na de inwerkingtreding van deze verordening legt de Commissie het Europees Parlement en de Raad een algemene evaluatie voor van de in het kader van deze verordening door de Gemeenschap gefinancierde acties, welke evaluatie vergezeld kan gaan van voorstellen voor de toekomst van de verordening en eventuele voorstellen voor de wijziging of verlenging daarvan.
2. Three years after this Regulation enters into force, the Commission shall submit to the European Parliament and the Council an overall assessment of operations financed by the Community under this Regulation, which may include suggestions regarding the future of this Regulation and, where necessary, proposals for amending or prolonging it.

De globale prognostische studies, de "technologische evaluatie'' van Fast en de analytische synthese dienen een zodanige relevantie en kwaliteit te hebben dat zij van aanmerkelijk nut zijn om de Commissie te oriënteren bij de keuzen op het gebied van communautaire OTO en andere relevante beleidssectoren van de Gemeenschap .
The global prospective studies, the FAST technological assessment exercises and the analytical synthesis should be of such a relevance and quality that they have been significantly useful for the Commission orientation not only of Community RTD choices and options but also of other relevant Community policies.

b ) de uitvoering van studies voor "technologische evaluatie'' betreffende de stand van een technologie en de verdere ontwikkeling ervan, de belemmeringen voor innovatie, het industriële en sociaal-economische effect ervan binnen de Gemeenschap ( per sector, per regio, enz .), de behoeften aan financieringsmiddelen voor O O en investeringen, enz .;
